Saturday Night Social 2018

Liverpool Mark Association held their Saturday Night Social on 27 January at Liverpool Masonic Hall.  Despite having to compete with Burns Nights and a FA Cup football match it was a good turnout with most of the Mark Lodges within the association having members and guests attending the night.  Also there was the PGM; Deputy PGM and APGM with their wives giving their support to what was another very successful evening.

Julie A Scott working with the audience
The Masonic Hall provided both excellent food and service on the night.  Entertainment was once again, (by popular request), provided by Julie A Scott.  Julie’s wide and varied repertoire of songs ranging from classical to modern and songs from the shows was appreciated by all those present.   Add to this her sense of humour and skill at engaging with her audience made for a fun night, especially her banter with the PGM RWBro Keith Beardmore who gave as good as he got.   (During 2017 Julie had won the award of Best Cilia Black tribute act.)

With the amount of Booze it must be a Masonic raffle
Keith and his wife also led the dancing during the evening and the PGM even obliged with a photo to satisfy someone’s strange sense of humour.   (Many thanks.)   As with all Masonic events besides having fun, the aim is to raise money for charity and this was successfully done on the night; even though somebody broke the raffle ticket barrel.  (I didn’t, it fell to bits in my hand!)

The money will be going to the ‘Charity Bike Ride’ which takes place 21st to 24th June.  (See Web site for details.)  The night was a smashing way to start off the New Year and let all the lodges to get together with their families for an enjoyable evening of food and entertainment.   A big ‘Thank You’ must go Mike Winterbottom; Steve Walls and Les Moore for all their hard work in organizing the night.  Preparations are already underway for next years event.
